AWA Call for Judges
Dear Enactus alumni,
Enactus is pleased to invite you to judge the Action with Africa Challenge!
ABOUT THE ‘ACTION WITH AFRICA’ PROGRAM
The Action with Africa program is an opportunity funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ) and Development and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. It is open to all Enactus teams around the world working on an Enactus project that takes place on the African continent. The overall goal of the program is to promote business ideas that :
- Engage the civil society,
- Create economically sustainable jobs,
- Address the Sustainable Development Goals,
- Contribute to post-Covid-19 economic recovery.
Action with Africa began with a 77-Second Film Challenge from November 2021 to January 2022 and continues with the Action with Africa Challenge for all Enactus teams worldwide until October 2022. Please visit the program’s website at enactus.de/awa to learn more.
BEING A JUDGE FOR THE ACTION WITH AFRICA CHALLENGE
As a judge in the Action with Africa Challenge, you would be asked to evaluate approximately eight entries based on the judging criterion provided in advance of the judging window. Each entry will include a business plan and 120-second or less video elevator pitch.
The first judging session will begin on Friday, 5 August, and must be complete by Sunday, 14 August. We estimate that the process will take approximately two to three hours and can be done at your convenience any time throughout the seven-day window. If you are excited to join, please click on the link below and fill in the registration form by 30 June 2022. In September and October, two more judging sessions will follow as part of the Action with Africa Challenge Event.
JOIN US FOR THE ACTION WITH AFRICA CHALLENGE EVENT
On 29th September 2022, Enactus invites the Top 8 teams to Bonn, Germany to attend this year’s final event to pitch their projects live and in person. In the morning, each Top 8 team will give a 5-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A session giving judges the chance to raise questions. This will be a hybrid event allowing judges to join both on site and remotely. The Top 4 teams will be decided the same morning as a result of the live judging. In the afternoon, the Top 4 will present their projects again to a global audience during the Action with Africa Challenge live-stream event starting at 1pm UTC. Finally, the challenge’s Top 4 ranking will be decided during a 10-day judging session in October 2022.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
Business partners and Enactus alumni from around the world are invited to apply as judges. Students are not eligible. The final judge list, determined by Enactus, will include a sound balance between the number of judges coming from the continent of Africa and those from non-African countries.
We hope you will consider participating as a judge in the Action with Africa Challenge. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send an email to awa@enactus.org.
Kindly,
Emily White
